Positioned in the enthusiast tier, it exists to deliver near‑flagship 4K gaming with ray tracing without stepping up to an RTX 4090. It’s well‑suited to 4K and high‑refresh 1440p play and creator workloads, with a 320 W board power, a single 16‑pin (12VHPWR) connector, and an 850 W recommended PSU. Typical MSI I/O is 3x DisplayPort 1.4a and 1x HDMI 2.1a. The original RTX 4080 models were discontinued in early 2024 in favor of the RTX 4080 SUPER.
