MSI’s MAG Z790 Tomahawk WiFi (DDR5, LGA1700, ATX) arrived in October 2022 with Intel’s 13th‑gen “Raptor Lake” and the Z790 platform. It sits in the high_end tier for LGA1700: a Z‑series board that exists to unlock CPU overclocking and offer modern I/O (PCIe 5.0, Wi‑Fi 6E, 20Gbps USB‑C) without stepping into halo models.

It supports 12th/13th/14th‑gen Core chips, four DDR5 DIMMs with 7200+ OC support, a PCIe 5.0 x16 graphics slot, and four NVMe M.2 sockets (Gen4). Rear I/O provides 2.5GbE, Wi‑Fi 6E/Bluetooth 5.3, USB 3.2 Gen2x2 Type‑C, plus HDMI/DP for iGPU. Good for overclocking‑capable, storage‑heavy builds and high‑speed memory tuning. Unique: four M.2 slots on an ATX board.
