Announced on May 19, 2020 with Intel’s 10th‑gen Core “Comet Lake” and the Z490 platform, the ASUS Prime Z490‑P is part of ASUS’s Prime series for LGA1200 builders. On our motherboard scale it’s high_end (Z‑series): it exists to deliver overclocking access and essential I/O without the price of premium extras.

It’s a practical ATX layout for upgrades: four DDR4 DIMMs up to 128 GB, dual NVMe M.2 alongside ample SATA, and two full‑length PCIe slots for a GPU plus expansion. Connectivity covers 1 GbE and USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type‑A, with DisplayPort/HDMI for iGPU. Notable: a Thunderbolt 3 add‑in‑card header for TB expansion.
