The 6 TB WD60EZAZ variant appeared in February 2019 with a 5400‑RPM spindle and 256 MB cache, expanding the consumer Blue line’s higher-capacity options. Positioning: budget desktop hard drive—built to deliver low-cost capacity rather than speed. It’s well suited for bulk media and a large game library, or as a general‑purpose mass‑storage/budget upgrade in a single‑drive PC. Notably, this model uses SMR recording, which is fine for light, mostly sequential use but a poor match for heavy‑write, RAID/NAS, or frequent re‑write workloads.
