Product overview Launched on August 15, 2019 as part of SK hynix’s SuperCore lineup, the Gold S31 is a 2.5-inch SATA III (first‑generation SuperCore) SSD that saturates the SATA bus with up to 560/525 MB/s sequential performance. It combines SK hynix’s in‑house controller, DRAM, and 3D TLC NAND in a 7mm drive for broad laptop/desktop fit.
Positioned as a budget SATA option, it exists to give reliable, drop‑in upgrades for systems without NVMe. The 500GB model is rated around 300 TBW and includes a DRAM cache, making it a solid pick for a Windows boot drive or compact game library on older platforms where SATA is the limit.
