Released on June 30, 2020, the Samsung 870 QVO is the company’s second‑generation consumer QLC SATA SSD, following the 860 QVO. The 8TB MZ‑77Q8T0B variant targets SATA’s ceiling with up to 560/530 MB/s and fits the standard 2.5‑inch, 7mm bay.

Positioned as a budget, capacity‑first drive, it exists to pack many terabytes into SATA‑only desktops and laptops at low cost. With QLC NAND plus a DRAM cache and a 2,880 TBW rating, it’s best for huge game libraries, general mass storage, or a budget upgrade; expect lower write speeds once the SLC cache is exhausted. Notably, at launch the 8TB model was the largest client SSD (Q3 2020).
