Product overview

Crucial’s BX500 1TB (CT1000BX500SSD1) joined the BX500 SATA 2.5-inch family on October 30, 2019. It’s the entry-level BX line aimed at inexpensive SATA upgrades.

As a budget SSD, it uses a SATA 6Gb/s interface with 540/500 MB/s ratings and 360 TBW endurance in a 7mm 2.5-inch form factor. It exists to replace hard drives or refresh older SATA-only PCs at low cost. Best used as a boot drive, a game library, and general-purpose storage; avoid heavy sustained-write scratch workloads. Notable: a DRAM-less controller design that lowers cost at the expense of sustained writes. As of 2026 it is not discontinued and remains listed on Crucial’s site.
