Gigabyte launched the Z790 Eagle AX on February 2, 2024 (Japan), adding a DDR5‑only ATX option to its Intel Z790/LGA1700 lineup for 12th/13th/14th Gen Core processors. It provides four DIMM slots (up to 192 GB), Wi‑Fi 6E, and 2.5 GbE alongside PCIe 5.0 for the primary x16 slot and three PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 sockets. Not discontinued as of 2026.
Positioned as a high_end Z‑series board, it exists to deliver overclocking support and broad I/O without AORUS‑class extras. It’s well‑suited to budget LGA1700 builds that still want CPU/memory OC headroom, expansion via multi‑M.2, and straightforward setup (Q‑Flash Plus, pre‑installed I/O shield).
