Product overview

Announced on September 27, 2022 as part of GIGABYTE’s Z790 launch for Intel 13th‑Gen Core (with 12th‑Gen support) and later updated for 14th‑Gen CPUs, the Z790 AORUS Elite AX is an ATX LGA1700 motherboard on Intel’s Z790 chipset. Regional retail availability followed in late October 2022. Positioned as a high_end Z‑series option, it exists to offer CPU overclocking and a well‑rounded feature set without moving to halo boards. It suits LGA1700 builds that need expansion/multi‑M.2 (4× PCIe 4.0 x4), high‑speed DDR5 up to 256 GB, PCIe 5.0 x16 graphics, plus 2.5GbE and Wi‑Fi 6E. Unique note: the Wi‑Fi module varies by PCB revision (Intel AX211 on rev. 1.0/1.1; Realtek RTL8852CE on rev. 1.2). Not discontinued as of 2026.

  • overclocking
