Product overview

Samsung’s 970 EVO Plus belongs to the 970 NVMe family and was announced on January 22, 2019; the 2TB variant followed shortly after in April 2019. It’s a PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe M.2 2280 SSD using Samsung V‑NAND (TLC) with onboard DRAM. Positioned as a budget NVMe option today, it exists to deliver mature Gen3 speeds without Gen4 platform requirements. Rated up to 3,500/3,300 MB/s and 1,200 TBW for the 2TB model, its TLC NAND and full DRAM cache make it a strong fit as a boot drive and roomy game library, and a sensible budget upgrade for PCIe 3.0 systems. Unique: the 2TB model carries 2GB of LPDDR4 as a DRAM cache. Samsung marked the 970 EVO Plus EOL by October 2024.
