Crucial’s MX500 4TB (CT4000MX500SSD1) is a 2.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s drive in the MX500 family; the 4TB capacity arrived in October 2021, the series itself launched in early 2018, and Crucial ended MX500 production in December 2024. As a budget-tier SATA TLC SSD with a DRAM cache, it exists to offer a reliable, widely compatible upgrade where M.2/NVMe isn’t available. It’s well-suited to SATA-only boot drives and large game libraries or general mass storage: 2.5-inch/7mm fit, SATA-class speeds up to 560/510 MB/s, and a 1,000 TBW rating for the 4TB model.
